Another regular season complete, now the playoffs.

The first round will see last seasons champions, the Misfits, in first place(17-3-0--35pts) with their new Yellow jerseys take on long time team The Carnage who finished fourth this season(9-11-0-0--20 pts), but with Alltime great goaltender Chris Obradovich in net they could be a team to post an upset much like the Vipers did last season against number 1 Army Hogs-which was the first time fourth ever beat first in league history. Misfit goalie Andrew Koop is coming into the playoffs with an astounding record of 17-0-0-1 with 6 shut outs and posting a 1.38GAA, So the Carnage will be in tight against a very hot goalie, add to that the fact that the Misfits set a record for lowest goals against for a team( in a 20 game season) with only 37 goals against this season and you set the stage for a good first round matchup..no bad blood between these teams even with Thea Chhoun jumping ship after last seasons championship win with the Misfits. Expect to see both teams to concentrate on goals not goonery. should be a good series.

Second place vipers(13-5-2--28pts) finished ahead of the 3rd place Army Hogs(11-8-1--23 pts) this season and will face them in the first round. The run and gun offence of the vipers goes up against the age and skill of a veteran Army hogs team who has alltime great James Mowat on the roster along wiht the return of allstar D man Joe Hunter, although spotty for the team this season, Mowat is sure to show up for the playoffs and be force. Both teams are penalty prone so one major key to this series will be staying out of the box. Army Hogs Power play was one better than the Vipers but the Vipers were one better short handed than the Army hogs. This will be a tight series and could go either way. Veteran goaltender Glen Schroeder posted a solid season for the Army Hogs and the Vipers one-two punch of Sukh Kular & Gurnab Sangha have helped their team post its best finish in its short 3 season history... They want back in the final this season and they will come out hard. The strong postional play of the Army hogs may give them some trouble though..for both teams it hinges strongly on who is on the bench when the ball drops.

The final matchup will see fifth place Newcomer the Abby Leafs taking on another newcomer team, sixth place Ball Hawgz in what is being billed as the Consolation round. Both teams have lots of rookies -8 on the Leafs and all but 3 on the Ball Hawgz. Neither team will advance to the finals, it is just a 3 game series to say thanks to the teams for showing up every night. Both teams took a lot of penalties this season but expect both teams to be a little more friendly in this just for fun series. The Abby leafs finished just six points out of the playoffs while the Ball Hawgz showed some spark near the end of the season. Should be a fun series for both teams.

First round results

Misfits vs Carnage

Misfits won game 1 3-0 Getting 2 goals-including the game winner- from Veteran forward Mark Gallant and a goal By Last seasons rookie of the year and Misfit leading scorer, Elih Bojczuk who scored short handed. Goaltender Andrew Koop continues with his stellar season and earned the shut out in game one.

Game 2 final was 5-4 in the shootout for the Misfits. This game saw Misfit Captain Terry Short take his first penalty of the season. After being cross checked in front by Carnage Dman Chris Day, Short slashed Day across shin pads in warning, Day responded with another cross check and Short added another slash, the back and forth went on until Short gave Day the old ""sweaty palmed face wash" and the ref sent them both off on roughing minors, but not before Short decided to go after Day, only to be restrained by both Days teammates and his own.
It was a backand forth battle that saw both teams lead and trail. Overtime solved nothing and it wasnt until the third round of the shootout before Game 1 hero Mark Gallant soft shoed in on Carnage goaltender Chris Obradovich and beat him on a sweet forehand/backhand deke for his second game winner of the series. Misfits win the series 2-0. Carnage took minor penalties and Misfits took 3, in the series

Vipers vs Army Hogs

Army hogs won Game 1 5-2 on the strength of 4 goals by the leagues Leading scorer Adam Lovell. The Vipers were in it early but the Army Hogs scored the game winner on the powerplay with Alan Campbell getting the game winning goal. The Hogs got into penalty trouble later in the game and although Rookie of the year Raman Jawanda scored on the powerplay the Vipers could not mount a comeback.

Game 2 saw Lovell continue his scoring touch with 2 goals and Jawanda added the lone goal for the Vipers. The vipers got into penalty trouble all game but kept the Army hogs from scoring on all 4 extra man advantages. After the vipers were assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct call late in the 2nd half, they reacted with anger, the ref called the game as he felt he was being personally attacked and intimidated. Not the ideal way to end a series but thats how it went. Army hogs win series 2-0 and will face the Misfits in the gold medal finals. The Army hogs took 5 minors in the series while the Vipers took 6. Vipers will face Carnagw in the bronze medal series.

The consolation round had 2 close games but both were won by the Abby Leafs

Game 1 Saw Leafs leading scorer Wayne Detta pick up 4 pts (2G-2A) .Daryl Driscoll popped in 2 goals and The leafs got singles from Nathan Everitt, Orland Lafrance and Ken Bollen, with Curtis hood getting a couple of helpers in a Leafs 7-5 win over the Ball Hawgz. The Ball Hawgz Kenny Greencorn and Rob Patton each scored two goals and D man Jared Stark had 3 helpers in the loss.

Game 2 Saw the Ball Hawgz come out gunning , getting 4 pts from Denis L'abbe(2G-2A) and 2 goals from Kenny Greencorn, but they couldnt out gun the Leafs whose Nathan Everitt scored a hat trick and added a helper. Single goals from Kyle Blais and Joel Dent plus the pair scored by Ken Bollen- who also scored the game winner, were too much for them. Leafs win game 2 7-6. Leafs took 4 minors and the Ball Hawgs took
